Prof. Dr. Nicola Harris

  • Prof. Dr. Nicola Harris was born and received her undergraduate and doctoral training in Physiology and Immunology in New Zealand. After a completing postdoctoral work at the University of Zurich / ETHZ under the supervision of Rolf Zinkernagel and Hans Hengartner, she was appointed assistant professor tenure track at the ETH. There she developed a pioneering research program, on the relation between intestinal parasites and mucosal immunology. Then Nicola joined EPFL August 1, 2009 as a tenure-track assistant professor for the Swiss Vaccine Research Institute, working within the Global Health Institute at EPFL. There she continues her work on protective immunity and immuno-modulation following intestinal helminth infection. She is a member of the editorial boards of Infection and Immunity, regularly reviews grant applications for the Swiss National Foundation and Wellcome Trust and is a member of the Scientific Advisory Board for PreClin Biosystems AG.
